Tips for choosing a Professional Roofer

Roofing

There are many ways to find a roofer, but the key to a beautiful, hassle-free new roof is finding a professional roofer. Here are some tips to help you make an informed and educated decision. We recommend you ask similar questions when interviewing a roofer.

Is the Roofer Properly Insured?

Residential roofing contractors should be able to provide you with evidence of liability insurance and workers compensation certificates (workers compensation laws vary by state). If the roofer is not adequately insured, it is possible that you could be held liable if there is a significant accident that occurs at your home.

Is the Roofer Properly Licensed?

Florida requires specific licensing for roofers to do work in this state. Check to make sure your selected roofing contractor has the necessary license. Simply asking the roofer to show you a copy will usually get the job done.

Does the Roofer Have a Proven Track Record?

How long has the roofing contractor been in business? Can they provide references from recently completed roof installations in your area? It's good practice to call a couple of these homeowners to make sure they are satisfied with the roofer's work.

What Warranties are Offered to Protect the Homeowner?

Make sure you understand what materials your roofer will be using and what the corresponding warranty is for those materials. Also, does the contractor warranty or guarantee their installation along with the materials? What circumstances would void the warranty?
